About the Opportunities

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Strategy, Governance and Compliance team within the Health Safety and Staff Wellbeing Directorate. As a Project Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering a range of high-impact projects that support the Department's strategic objectives, strengthen operational effectiveness, and contribute to safer, more supportive working and learning environments across NSW.

About the role

As a Project Officer, you will contribute to the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of projects across the Directorate. You'll provide project support and administrative services to help ensure successful outcomes—on time, on budget, and in line with departmental priorities.

This includes preparing documentation, analysing data, liaising with stakeholders, and helping drive continuous improvement in how we manage and deliver projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans
  • Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress against established milestones and deliverables
  • Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decision-making and planning
  • Actively participate in the regular review of project systems, processes and procedures to identify opportunities for development and continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Responsibilities such as delivering digital design and training development, as well as proficiency in modern authoring tools.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination or support in a government or corporate setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
