Power BI Consultant – Power Apps & Automation Focus

We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Power BI Consultant for an immediate-start 3-month contract engagement. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in building impactful business intelligence solutions, with advanced capabilities in Power Apps, Power Automate, and workflow automation.

This role is particularly suited to candidates who excel at bridging technical development with business needs, and who can deliver end-to-end analytics and low-code solutions with minimal supervision in fast-paced, project-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Dashboard Design & Development: Build, enhance, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards and reports, applying UX best practices and data visualisation principles.

Power Apps Solutions: Develop custom Power Apps to streamline business workflows, capture data inputs, and integrate with underlying Microsoft services.

Automation & Workflow Enablement: Design and implement automated workflows using Power Automate, connecting Power Platform solutions with SharePoint, Teams, and other enterprise systems.

Data Modelling: Design robust Power BI data models using DAX and Power Query (M), ensuring performance and reusability across reports.

Integration & Sourcing: Connect Power BI reports to a variety of data sources including SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, and APIs.

Collaboration & Delivery: Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and support user testing and deployment.

Documentation & Support: Develop high-quality documentation for solutions, processes, and user guides, enabling sustainable handover and knowledge sharing.

Governance & Best Practice: Apply governance frameworks, naming conventions, and security best practices across Power Platform solutions.

Requirements:

Citizenship: Must be an Australian citizen.

Experience: 5–10 years in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence roles.

Power Platform Expertise:

Proven experience delivering Power BI solutions in an enterprise setting.

Strong hands-on development with Power Apps (Canvas Apps) and Power Automate.

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modelling.

Comfortable working with REST APIs and integrating various data services.

Stakeholder Engagement: Confident communicator with the ability to understand business problems and translate them into technical solutions.

Availability: Must be available for immediate start on a full-time 3-month contract.

Delivery Experience: Prior experience in agile or hybrid delivery models, ideally with project exposure in finance, operations, or HR domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience embedding Power BI into SharePoint or Teams.

Exposure to Power BI Service administration and workspace management.

Familiarity with version control (e.g., DevOps) and solution lifecycle practices.

Knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse or Dynamics 365 integration.
