About the Role

Technocrat is an Australian digital agency specialising in secure website development for government and enterprise clients. We’re seeking a freelance ISO 27001 consultant to:

Conduct a gap analysis of our existing controls and documentation

Advise on effort and roadmap to achieve ISO 27001 readiness and certification

Guide our team and actively participate in each accreditation stage

Facilitate and input into technical writing, evidence collection, workshops and audit‑readiness activities

This is a casual, as‑needed contract (0-16 hours/week, with surge during initial assessment). Ideal for someone with ongoing consulting commitments looking to complement their workload.

Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive ISO 27001 gap analysis and risk assessment

Develop an implementation plan covering policies, procedures and registers

Advise on PII handling controls and potential future “official sensitive” data scope

Lead virtual workshops and evidence‑gathering sessions with our distributed team

Assist with technical writing and generating assets

Lead Stage 1 (readiness) and Stage 2 (certification) audit activities

Liaise with external auditors and relevant suppliers as required

Required Skills & Experience

Proven track record implementing ISO 27001 for IT SMEs or professional services organisations with government clients

Deep understanding of ISO 27001:2022 controls, risk treatment and audit requirements

Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote environment

Strong writing and communication skills for technical and executive‑level stakeholders

Australian right to work and residency; willingness to undergo police check and sign an NDA if required

Desirable (bonus, not mandatory):

ISO27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor certification

Experience with the ISO27001 accreditation of IT start-ups

We're looking at expanding our ISO accreditations beyond ISO 27001 as a separate objective. Any experience implementing similar systems QMS (ISO 9001), EMS (ISO 14001) or WHS (ISO 45001) is a bonus that we'd be interested to hear about from you.
