About the area
The School of Indigenous Studies at UWA is committed to achieving excellence and equity in higher education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It offers orientation programs, outreach initiatives, and ongoing student support. The School leads key projects including:
- Transforming Indigenous Mental Health and Wellbeing, which develops culturally capable service models.
- Centre of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention (CBPATSISP), promoting evidence-based, culturally respectful suicide prevention.
- Indigenous Futures Centre, a transdisciplinary research initiative aimed at transforming Indigenous policy and program development through community-led, impactful research.
About the opportunity
- Lead the operational management of high-impact Indigenous research initiatives, particularly the ARC Indigenous Futures Centre.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support including personnel, financial, travel, and research coordination.
- Manage project communications and stakeholder engagement through newsletters, webinars, podcasts, and events.
About you
- Substantial relevant experience in research project management, including research-related activities (e.g., KPI reporting) and project managerial activities.
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous peoples in empowering and culturally respectful ways.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgement, including taking ownership of and solving problems in ambiguous and time-sensitive contexts.
Special Requirements
- Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage will be required for the successful applicant prior to appointment.
