The City of Mandurah Strategy team is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Project Officer. This position will be responsible for the planning and management of a range of strategic projects aimed to increase the economic growth, employment, investment, government infrastructure and services in Mandurah.

You will:

  • Increase awareness of Mandurah as an attractive investment location.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the City’s economic development strategies in Mandurah through designated projects, programs, research and analysis, creative ideas and government and business liaison to promote inward investment in high priority sectors.
  • Lead and support projects and programs to improve skill development, higher education, and employment outcomes in Mandurah.
  • Target key sectors identified through the City’s Transform Mandurah research and other endorsed plans.
  • Further develop strategies, business cases, and strategic plans to develop those sectors.
  • Attract government commitment, support, and funding.
  • Liaise with public and private sector partners to ensure coordination of activities.
  • Implement initiatives developed under the Community Strategic Plan and Departmental business plans.
  • Provide a high level of service, advice, and support to potential investors as part of an integrated team approach.

What you will bring to the team

To be successful you will have:

  • Relevant degree/qualification.
  • Current unrestricted C class national driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated professional experience of at least 3 years in economic or business development, private investment attraction and/or delivery and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in working with the business sector and understanding of factors affecting business growth (desirable).
  • Experience in working with the human capital sector and understanding of key issues and opportunities in skill development, higher education, and employment pathways (desirable).
  • Sound understanding of the business development and investment process, financial reporting and key factors driving regional economic growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to be collaborative and build relationships internally and externally to further the reputation and success of Mandurah.
  • Research, analytical thinking and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to discuss, articulate and challenge business plans and options.
  • Knowledge of Australian and State Government grant funding program.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivating, outcomes focussed.

The finer details

This full-time position attracts a competitive Level 7 salary rate of $108,804 to $115,610 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience and a wide range of benefits to reward your contribution.
