An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and suitably experienced Livestock Event Manager to join the Beef 2027 leadership team. This position is responsible for development and delivery of the three Cattle Competitions held within the event program – Carcase, Commercial and Stud. The Livestock Manager will collaborate with the leadership team to develop, implement, and evaluate the Beef Australia exposition program of Cattle Competitions, and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in project management and an understanding of livestock handling. Experience exhibiting livestock is desirable, but not essential.
You will be accustomed to managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities and deadlines.
You will need to have strong organisational and communication skills and be proficient with digital software and systems.
Competition Management
Lead and manage the Cattle Committee meetings, record minutes and attend to action items.
Under the direction of the Cattle Committees invite judges for the Cattle Competitions and work with Breed Society’s to secure judges, breed captains and stewards for the Stud Cattle Competition
Assist Cattle Committees with the planning and delivery of youth competitions.
Prepare nomination software and entry forms.
Prepare with the Marketing team the competition schedules, handbooks and catalogues.
Coordinate Catalogue layouts, printing and distribution.
Prepare and distribute competition newsletters and information.
Coordinate prizes, trophies and ribbons.
Work with Venues to coordinate and manage the housing of livestock and set-up of sales ring for the commercial cattle championships.
Work with the Catering & Functions Coordinator to organise and deliver the awards functions.
Assist the Finance Officer to verify timesheets, purchase orders, tenders/quotes/contracts against the delivery of goods and services relating to the cattle competitions prior to payment.
Allocate breeds to sheds and exhibitors to sites.
Liaise with camping coordinator and committee regarding camping layout, arrivals and departures.
Liaise with Operations Team on layout and construction of judging rings
Coordinate timing and management of weighing, scanning and mouthing of cattle.
Manage the day-to-day activities of the cattle competition including bump in and out.
Liaise with the Event Manager to coordinate the supply and delivery of catering for competitions when required and secure accommodation for competition judges.
Provide a detailed schedule of winners to the Finance Officer for distribution of prize monies.
This position is offered under a fixed term part time from August 2025 moving to full time contract as the workload increases, finishing to 31 July 2027. To attract the right candidate, Beef Australia is offering an attractive annual remuneration package of up to $100,000 including annual salary and superannuation.
This position is located at the Beef Australia office – 195 Bolsover Street, Rockhampton Queensland, remote working conditions will be considered for the right candidate.
