Our client is a major player in Australia’s agricultural landscape, owning multiple large-scale cropping operations throughout the eastern states. With a history of investment in productivity and innovation, they provide employees with cutting-edge equipment and support.
The property we are recruiting for is circa 4,000ha (70% irrigated) and located in the heart of the Central Highlands near Springsure - 65km south of Emerald. It is a key part of their portfolio and has recently benefited from extensive upgrades to irrigation (currently running laterals and pivots) and water storage. With a strong focus on sustainable farming and continuous improvement, this is an environment where your input will directly impact long-term success.
The Role:
Whether you’re a Senior Farm Hand looking to step up or already in an Assistant Manager or Overseer role, this position is built to help you grow. It offers the chance to lead daily operations, develop your team leadership skills, and strengthen your commercial and planning capability, setting you up to move confidently into a more senior management role.
You’ll take the lead on day-to-day tasks, working closely with the Farm Manager to build your skills in planning, operations, and decision-making. It’s a practical role that keeps you on the tools while helping you develop your leadership capabilities.
Additional Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading farm operations, with a focus on irrigation (pivot & lateral - no siphons) and cropping
- Assist in managing contractors - planting & harvesting
- Maintain and operate machinery, ensuring optimal performance and upkeep
- Assist in planning, logistics and general project management with support from agronomist and management teams
- Drive productivity with an eye toward performance bonuses tied to yield targets
What You Bring:
You’ll bring solid operational skills and either strong commercial acumen or a genuine willingness to develop it. Experience in cotton or irrigation is preferred, though not essential. What matters most is your adaptability and hands-on experience in a corporate or large-scale family farming environment.
