The Opportunity

This is a non-ongoing 12-month contract with strong potential to transition into a permanent role, as it is a vacant position.

It’s a great opportunity for an experienced EL1 to further develop their skills in financial reporting while leading a financial operations team. It’s also ideal for a Manager from a Big 4 or mid-tier consulting firm with financial reporting and operations experience who is looking to move into the APS.

You'll be joining a collaborative and supportive team, led by a high-performing CFO who is known for being an excellent mentor. The organisation also offers flexible work arrangements that support a healthy work-life balance.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly financial reports, annual financial statements, and other statutory reports, including interpreting accounting standards and dealing with auditors
• Leading the financial operations function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end processes, and credit card, while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
• Providing clear and practical guidance to business areas, promoting a culture of compliance, and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation
• Managing a small team, overseeing performance, and ensuring efficient workflow aligned with organisational goals

The Ideal Person

You are an experienced EL1-level Financial Accountant with a solid understanding of financial operations, and experience preparing Portfolio Budget Statements (including use of CBMS).

You are likely to come from one of the following backgrounds:

• A Senior Consultant, Manager or above level in a Big 4 or second-tired consulting firm, with experience supporting Federal Government clients in financial reporting
• An experienced EL1 financial accountant with strong financial operations and financial reporting knowledge, team management experience, and stable tenure

Applicant MUST be Australian Citizens with existing security clearance to be considered for this opportunity.

Salary / Rate

• $120k - $125k + 15.4% Super or salary match for substantive EL1
• Non-ongoing 12-month contract with a view to permanency
