The Opportunity

This department is one of the most sought-after employers within the APS for good reason. As a central part of the Federal Government, this role allows you to apply your expertise in an engaging work environment while continuously learning and growing as a professional. This role will offer you:

• Work in an international context collaborating with stakeholder across the world
• 6 – 12 moth non-ongoing contract or permanent s26 transfer opportunity
• Ability to work from home 2 days per week after the initial onboarding period

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and reviewing general ledger reconciliations, ensuring data integrity and alignment with accounting standards
• Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders providing advice on technical matters such as asset accounting, journals and reconciliations
• Work with business areas to troubleshoot financial systems issues
• Drive progress on finance-related projects, contributing to system upgrades, process improvements, and initiatives that enhance the way financial information is managed and reported.

The Ideal Person

You’re a systems accountant with a strong understanding of FMIS, ideally SAP, and thrive in roles where you can make systems work better for users. You enjoy helping others, and your strong interpersonal skills make you a trusted point of contact across finance and business teams. Curious by nature, you’re always looking for smarter ways to do things and bring a thoughtful, user-focused approach to system design and support.

You could currently be an EL1 Systems Accountant in the APS looking for a change or come from the consulting world with hands-on experience working with government clients.

You must have an existing Negative Vetting 1 security clearance to be considered for this role.

Salary / Rate

• $115k - $130k + Super or salary match for existing APS employees
