EL1 Assistant Director – Financial Operations

• Level: EL1 equivalent

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced finance professional to step into a leadership role as Assistant Director – Financial Operations, based in Canberra. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in financial governance, team leadership, and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a small finance operations team
• Oversee day-to-day financial activities and ensure compliance
• Provide expert technical accounting advice
• Apply relevant legislation & financial frameworks
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
• Manage workload prioritisation, ensure timely and accurate outcomes
• Perform financial analysis and data reconciliation using financial systems
• Lead process improvement initiatives and maintain financial policies
• Manage end-of-month processes including reconciliations, journals, and executive reporting

Eligibility:
• Applicants must be Australian citizens to be considered for this role

Desirable Criteria:
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience in Financial Operations
• 3+ years of proven leadership in a finance team environment
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
