About the Role

Banksia Park Primary School P&C Inc. is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Canteen Supervisor to join our small but strong school community and provide exceptional food and service to students.

The Canteen Supervisor is a fixed term part time position working a total of 16.5 hours per week. Two of these shifts are fixed- Wednesday & Friday from 8.30am to 3pm with a 30 minute break and the remainder of the hours (4.5) can be worked at any other suitable weekday time. This role is paid at a level 3 ($28.90ph) in in accordance with the Fast Food Industry Award (MA000003).

The Canteen Supervisor’s core responsibility is to coordinate providing a healthy and efficient lunch service, within the assigned budget. The role has access to a pool of volunteers that donate their time to assist with the preparation and service of the food.

Main Duties:

Managing the day-to-day operations of the site including the preparation of a variety of hot and cold food.

Serving students over the counter at recess and lunchtime.

Organising and managing the online pre-orders and catering requests.

Supervision and instruction of volunteers.

Ensure food safety compliance is maintained.

Washing dishes and general kitchen cleaning duties.

Opening/closing the site including strong cash management and POS management.

Achieving sales and cost of goods budgets to achieve KPI’s.

Adhering to the BBPS Canteen Policy.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a school canteen is ideal but experience in any hospitality environment will be favourably considered.

Customer service and quality focused.

Cash handling, balancing and reporting experience.

Great communication skills and ability to show initiative.

Knowledge and understanding of special diets and allergies.

Knowledge of the Department of Education’s Healthy Food and Drink Policy, Traffic Light system and new food safety Standard 3.2.2a is desirable.

The ability to work independently and within a team.
