You’re a strong engineer, but you’re ready to step up as a true Technical SME.

You’ve spent the last few years working across infrastructure and Azure cloud - keeping systems running, managing BAU tickets, and putting out fires. You know you have more to offer than just maintenance and patching.

You’ve watched as your current business stuck to old ways, resisting cloud or modern automation tools. You knew there was potential to build a resilient, secure, hybrid environment - one that empowers teams and supports future growth. But no one gave you the platform to make it happen.

This role changes that.

Here, you'll step into a Technical SME role within a small but impactful Infrastructure team, designing and implementing modern hybrid architectures across on-prem and Azure. You’ll lead cloud governance and cost optimisation, drive automation initiatives, and directly shape infrastructure that underpins critical national services.

You’ll take ownership of Microsoft 365 environments, manage identity systems, ensure robust backup and DR strategies, and work hand-in-hand with senior stakeholders. You’ll finally get to influence technical direction and see your ideas come to life, not just support someone else’s plan.

What you’ll need

• Strong expertise across Windows servers and Azure cloud.
• Experience designing and maintaining enterprise hybrid environments.
• Proficiency in infrastructure automation (e.g. Terraform), with a passion for continuous improvement.
• Solid knowledge of security best practices and governance.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, identity management, and modern workplace tools.
