NJ Electrical is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Draftsperson / Estimator to join our growing team. This hybrid role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for projects while supporting electrical design and drafting work across a range of commercial and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed cost estimates, tender submissions, and budgets

Develop electrical drawings, plans, and technical documentation (BOMs, specs, etc.)

Assist with CAD drafting for electrical systems including substations, switchgear, and cabling

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to source competitive pricing and build reliable cost data

Support project managers with variation pricing, cost breakdowns, and forecasting

Contribute to technical documentation including BOMs and layout plans

Assist in reviewing and updating drawings using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD) when required

Ensure all work aligns with relevant Australian standards (AS/NZS, BCA, NEC)

You’ll Need:

Strong proficiency with Simpro (quoting, cost tracking, workflows)

Proficient with estimating and CAD tools (e.g. Simpro, GroundPlan, AutoCAD)

Background in Electrical Engineering – ideally with a degree or trade experience

1–2+ years of experience in estimating or electrical project support roles

Understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and materials

Ability to read and interpret technical plans, drawings, and specs

Strong attention to detail, communication, and organisational skills

Willingness to work in-office – this is not a remote role
