About the airport
The Learmonth Airport was opened in 1999 and is located within the RAAF Learmonth base. The airport is operated by the Shire through a lease with the Department of Defence under a Deed of Operations. Learmonth Airport is a Security Controlled Airport (SCA) with a Classification 2 under the Federal Aviation Transport Safety
Security Act 2004. It is situated 36km south of Exmouth and services Qantas passenger aircraft as well as helicopter operators supporting off-shore oil and gas operations.
The Role
The Executive Manager Airport Operations reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for the efficient and effective management and operation of the Learmonth Airport (including Heliport) and Exmouth Aerodrome. This role has at its core the requirement to deliver safe and compliant operations, but also to enable the Shire to realise its aviation business goals.
Key deliverables/responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
• Ensuring the airport and heliport facilities are always operationally capable of facilitating aircraft in a safe, secure, reliable and efficient manner consistent with acceptable levels of service.
• Ensuring compliance with all government mandated legislative and regulatory requirements with an emphasis on safety and security regulations.
• Develop and maintain close and positive relationships with industry partners, defence, external and internal stakeholders and community, enabling informed decisions regarding the airport, heliport and aerodrome.
• Manage the delivery of a proactive maintenance program for all assets
• Manage terminals to deliver the required services, customer experience and business outcomes.
• Achievement of agreed financial, people, assets, aviation, social and environmental goals through the development of relevant strategies and action plans.
•Effective leadership and management of the aviation team and ensuring their ongoing training and development aligns with aviation compliance and regulatory
requirements.
The Person
Key to success in this role will be your;
• Industry experience in aviation and a desire to apply this in a regional setting.
• Strong and influential people management skills, and experience in building a cohesive and productive team that are focused on safety and security.
• Organisational skills with the ability to balance operational and strategic functions of the role, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Business acumen along with experience in managing partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
•Strong work ethic, solutions focused mindset and commitment to providing excellent customer services.
•Knowledge of local government and an understanding of how this shapes the role.
What We’re Offering:
An attractive salary package circa $197,250 is offered and includes base salary+ superannuation co-contribution + housing + restricted private use of a vehicle + phone and communications allowance. In addition, the Shire offers the following benefits;
