HarperLloyd Recruitment is a legal specialist recruitment firm working with private practice firms, and we are currently partnering with a well-regarded mid-sized firm in Brisbane to find a Legal Assistant to support a Director in their busy insurance practice.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented legal assistant who enjoys working autonomously, thrives in a high-volume practice, and is motivated by structure, variety, and contributing to meaningful outcomes. You’ll play a pivotal role in managing work across the team, ensuring critical deadlines and client expectations are consistently met.
This opportunity would suit an experienced legal support professional with a strong understanding of litigation processes, who enjoys being across the details, coordinating workflow, and taking ownership of key admin tasks.

The Role
This is a busy and varied legal assistant role supporting one senior practitioner and managing workflow across their wider team.
Your duties will include:
- Drafting and formatting correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents
- Coordinating files and preparing briefs to counsel
- Email and diary management, including scheduling IMEs, court dates, and internal deadlines
- Preparing weekly reporting to ensure compliance with service standards
- Tracking time and assisting with invoicing
- Liaising with team members to manage priorities and ensure timely sign-off on matters
About You
You will be someone with:
- 2+ years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal (insurance or personal injury preferred)
- Confidence managing competing deadlines in a high-volume environment
- A proactive, detail-focused approach and excellent communication skills
- Experience with Practice Evolve, Adobe, and cloud-based systems
- An ability to manage priorities and keep teams on track
