As our business grows, we are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Accountant to lead our accounts division. This is a critical role requiring a strong background in construction industry accounting, financial compliance, tax legislation, and payroll management.

About the Role

You’ll take ownership of our financial operations, ensuring compliance with tax and payroll legislation, managing general ledger accounts, and leading the full-cycle accounting process. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can confidently oversee all aspects of accounting for a construction-based business.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with ATO and financial reporting requirements including BAS, IAS, superannuation, payroll tax, and workers compensation.

Maintain the general ledger, manage accounts payable and receivable, and perform accurate bank reconciliations.

Process and manage payroll, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and correct leave and tax calculations.

Prepare and lodge activity statements, financial reports, and handle ATO and regulatory requirements.

Handle invoicing, statement processing and resolve general account inquiries.

Lead budget preparation and financial forecasting, supporting the business with strategic insights.

Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or infrastructure industry.

Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation and payroll regulations.

Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics is essential.

Experience with accounting and payroll platforms such as WIISE, Employment Hero, and MYOB.

High attention to detail, with the ability to independently manage priorities and deadlines.
