The Opportunity:
As Coordinator Planning Assessment, you’ll take the lead on development assessment services - guiding your team through complex planning proposals while ensuring timely, compliant decisions that shape the future of your community. From dual occupancies to major subdivisions, your technical insight and leadership will support the delivery of sustainable, well-designed outcomes.
You’ll represent Council in planning panels, Court proceedings, and key stakeholder engagements. But equally important, you’ll mentor and empower a high-performing team, helping the next wave of planners thrive in their careers.
You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Overseeing the assessment and determination of a wide range of Development Applications
- Leading and mentoring a team of Planning Officers through performance and capability building
- Driving customer service excellence and continuous improvement
- Ensuring compliance with planning legislation and local policies
- Representing Council at panels, in Court, and during community consultations
- Managing budgets, resourcing, and strategic objectives
You’ll Bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban/Town Planning or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in local government planning, including DA assessment
- Deep knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and related policies
- Leadership skills that bring out the best in people
- Confidence working across residential, commercial, industrial and rural contexts
