About the Role
This role focuses on leading and managing high quality scientific research for fisheries stock assessment. As the Research Leader Stock Assessment, you'll ensure studies meet world-class standards and inform crucial decision-making. This involves establishing rigorous processes, securing external funding, and effectively communicating findings to a wide range of stakeholders. Additionally, you'll be managing and mentoring a multi-disciplinary team to achieve these vital scientific goals.

About You
As our ideal candidate, you will have:

• PhD level qualifications in a relevant field with extensive experience in fisheries assessment and sustainable management.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage senior scientific teams to deliver world-class research.
• Highly developed analytical skills, including data curation, modelling, and computer programming.
• Expertise in identifying research priorities and securing external funding.
• Exceptional communication skills to convey complex scientific findings to diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NSW commercial fishing practices and species biology.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel regularly for work purposes.
