Coordinator Planning Assessment - Local Council
Location: Moss Vale, NSW
Salary: $163,137 + Super and Leaseback Vehicle

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Coordinator to lead a Development Assessment team within a progressive local government setting. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing complex development applications and supporting a team of planning professionals.
The Opportunity
This position will see you managing a team of Planning Officers to deliver timely, high-quality development assessments across a broad range of applications. You will play an integral role in ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks while promoting a customer-focused approach to development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the assessment, review and determination of development proposals, including residential, commercial, industrial, and subdivision applications
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, promoting a high-performance, collaborative culture
- Provide technical advice on complex planning and development matters
- Represent the organisation in pre-lodgement meetings, Local and Regional Planning Panels, and Court proceedings
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, systems and service delivery
- Engage with key stakeholders to facilitate development outcomes in line with legislative requirements and council objectives
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning or a related field
- Minimum of five years' demonstrated experience in Local Government Planning and Development Assessment
- Strong understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and related legislation
- Proven leadership capability with experience building and managing high-performing teams
- Ability to manage complex development assessments and provide sound, practical advice
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
