The Civil Technician is responsible for supporting engineering and construction teams through technical tasks, including testing, monitoring, and documentation to ensure quality compliance with project specifications. A core function of the role involves performing and reporting on concrete and materials testing on-site and in field laboratories.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site concrete sampling and testing, including slump, air content, temperature, and cylinder preparation in accordance with Australian Standards
  • Perform field and laboratory materials testing for aggregates, soils, and compaction to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Assist engineers in the collection and analysis of data for quality control, surveying, and design purposes.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and test reports for internal quality assurance and external compliance audits.
  • Monitor and document construction activities to ensure conformance with engineering plans and safety standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation as required.
  • Support the setup, calibration, and maintenance of testing and survey equipment.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and site supervisors to ensure quality standards are upheld.
  • Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments in line with company WHS policies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in concrete and soil testing within a civil construction or infrastructure project environment.
  • Understanding of relevant Australian Standards for construction materials testing.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and test results.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in remote and regional project environments.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • White Card and current driver's licence
