About the role

Mater Private Hospital Redlands is currently recruiting for an experienced Enrolled Nurse to join our team. You will be working within Day Oncology, a part of the Redlands Mater Cancer Care Centre. This is a unique opportunity where we can accommodate flexibility by offering a roster that suits your needs. The unit operates Tuesday to Friday, from 8:30am to 5:30pm, and we are open to discussing hours of work that suit you. Successful candidates will secure Permanent Part-Time employment, working either a 0.4 or 0.6 FTE.

We are currently seeking experienced oncology nurses as well as those who are new to the specialty but have a strong interest in oncology nursing. We pride ourselves on providing the necessary support and upskilling to help you excel in this rewarding area of healthcare. You will be working within the Day Oncology unit, a vital part of the Redlands Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC).

Mater Private Redlands MCCC aims to offer all patients, regardless of their level of health insurance cover, access to a modern state-of-the-art facility that provides comprehensive and compassionate care that is individually personalised. The Cancer Centre includes consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy.

Salary range: $35.92 - $38.21 (Enrolled Nurse) per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Whilst maintaining the highest level of clinical standards for the unit, responsibilities for this role include:

• Contribute to achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the Patients' Cancer journey
• Coordination of Public Clinics and patient flow
• Ensuring clinical documentation is prepared and provided to the specialist doctors as required
• Clinic room preparation
• Managing outpatient appointments and fail to attends in line with SOSIS
• Clinical assessment and management of unwell patients in the clinic area, with NUM, CN and Team Leader support
• Triaging and escalation of patient phone calls requiring symptom review
• Provide patient education in line with current scope of practice
• Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
• Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

Other skills and experience include:

• Current AHPRA nursing registration as an Enrolled Nurse (no restrictions)
• Experience working in Cancer Care Nursing (desirable not essential)
• Ability to work in an ever-changing and fast paced environment
• A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
• Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
