We are a young and growing civil business, working in the commercial/industrial projects segment of the civil industry. The types of projects include service stations, child care centres, ambulance stations, small shopping centres, secondary school buildings, carparks, small subdivisions, operational works packages and Council works. We complete all bulk earthworks, civil stormwater, detailed excavations, retaining wall backfills, access roads, subgrade replacements, carparks, piling platforms, bio retention basins and the like.

We are now looking to bring on a leading hand to take on a range of responsibilities within our projects as we continue to grow the business. The role is a full time permanent role on the Sunshine Coast with our projects being between North Brisbane and Gympie. The leading hand role will look after stormwater works, concreting related tasks (kerbs, headwalls, aprons, footpaths) and general civil works such as rock scour protections. When not on these tasks the role will be part of the civil earthworks construction team.

We are looking for an experienced candidate who is a hands-on problem solver that can take the initiative and push forward progress in the execution of our projects. The right candidate will have the following:

plant operating experience

civil construction experience

Civil stormwater construction experience

Concreting experience

preferably Cert IV in Civil Construction

problem solver and trouble shooter

able to read and interpret plans

able to lead and manage a small crew to deliver projects - 2 to 4 guys

able to coordinate with other trades

able, willing and keen to get hands on as needed to achieve project timelines (in machines, on end of shovel, laying pipes, concreting etc)

able to setup Rover units, laser and the like for RLs, layouts and setout

capable of planning and scheduling days in advance

excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with client supervisors

Can build and develop a small team looking after civil stormwater, concreting and related civil works

The primary focus for this role is leading, executing and supervising civil construction works around stormwater, civil concreting and related tasks. You will drive productivity on projects and ensure safety compliance and achievement of quality standards of work to hand over to our customers.

The role will work very closely with the Civil Site Supervisor and Construction Manager as part of your professional development to equip you with the skills needed and mentor your growth into the role.

Flat hourly rate to be negotiated with the right candidate along with a company vehicle.
