Lead the Electrical Design for Australia's Most Critical Energy Projects

An exciting opportunity exists for a Design Manager - Electrical (HV Transmission) to oversee the design and delivery of major high-voltage power infrastructure across Australia. You'll join a nationally recognised engineering consultancy with deep expertise in the power, utilities, and renewable energy sectors, and play a key leadership role in the development of the transmission grid of the future.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design delivery of HV electrical transmission projects (110kV to 500kV)

Oversee designs for primary and secondary systems, including protection, control, earthing, and HV layout

Lead and mentor a team of engineers and drafters across multiple project phases

Ensure technical compliance with relevant Australian and international standards

Collaborate with clients, contractors, and project managers to drive on-time, high-quality outcomes

Provide technical governance, review, and sign-off on design documentation

Support business development and project planning through design scoping and estimation

About You

✔️ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
✔️ 10+ years' experience in HV transmission electrical design (preferably substations or overhead lines)
✔️ Deep knowledge of Australian electrical standards and utility design practices
✔️ Strong capability across primary, secondary, and protection/control design
✔️ Experience leading design teams or acting in a lead engineer capacity
✔️ CPEng or NER accreditation (or working toward)
✔️ Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
