About the role

IDEA Innovative Disability Engagement Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Disability Support Worker with Auslan skills to join our team in Lurnea, NSW. In this casual position, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their needs are met with empathy and dignity.

What you'll be doing

Assisting clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, and household tasks

Facilitating engaging social, recreational, and educational activities to promote clients' well being and independence

Communicating effectively with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals using Auslan

Advocating for clients' rights and ensuring their preferences are respected

Maintaining accurate record-keeping and reporting on client progress

Adhering to all relevant health, safety, and quality standards

What we're looking for

Demonstrated experience in the disability support or aged care sector, with a passion for empowering individuals with disabilities

Proficiency in Auslan (Australian Sign Language) communication, enabling you to provide excellent support to Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and their families

A caring, patient, and empathetic nature, with a commitment to promoting the independence and dignity of clients

Relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent

A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle (desirable)
