Job Summary:
Supporting Independent Living Co-Operative (SILC) are a NFP seeking dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide personalised support with our team for ASH Cooperative located on the Northern Beaches. We are looking for proactive, enthusiastic support workers to join us providing supported living and community access for 1 male in his mid 30’s with Level 2 autism.
These roles will initially be offered on a casual basis with potential to become part time carers with our organisation. All of our support workers provide focussed daily care in the home with community access when necessary. You will also receive ongoing training and development to help ensure your success.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful support model that combines overnight care with daytime capacity building, community access, and independent living support.
Ideally You Will:
Experienced in the disability support sector, especially with autism and challenging behaviours
Reliable and confident working independently
Comfortable preparing meals and supporting domestic routines
Patient, calm, and good at de-escalating high-pressure situations
Skilled communicator, with a team-oriented and participant-focused approach
Able to support social and community participation
Key Responsibilities may include
Build the participant’s independence and daily living skills
Implement and follow positive behaviour support plans
Provide a calm and reliable presence during overnight shifts
Participate in record keeping and communication with family and support team
Assist with meal preparation tailored to diabetes management
Support household duties – laundry, cleaning, tidying
Provide emotional support and companionship
Facilitate social outings, community access, and attend appointments
Varied Shifts:
The house operates 7 days a week, with shifts from late afternoon to early evening, mid-morning to afternoon and a non-active sleepovers shifts available. The current gap is on providing overnight support, though the participant receives nearly 24-hour care and day shifts are also available for the right candidates.
Requirements:
Experience in challenging behaviours and disability care
Current NDIS Workers Clearance or ability to obtain.
Drivers license for NSW and car required for transport purposes
Availability for overnight shifts (with day shifts also available
