Sacred Heart College is seeking a dynamic and future-focused educator to lead as our Transdisciplinary Learning Specialist.

This role will play a key part in shaping innovative, purpose-driven learning experiences that go beyond traditional subject boundaries. With a focus on deep learning, global perspectives, and student agency, the Transdisciplinary Learning Specialist will collaborate with staff across the College to design and deliver integrated learning opportunities that inspire curiosity and challenge thinking.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Transdisciplinary Learning Specialist, you will play a central role in shaping how students engage with learning at Sacred Heart College. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of learning experiences that connect knowledge across disciplines and reflect the skills and challenges of the real world.

Key responsibilities include:

Designing transdisciplinary experiences across year levels that promote deep learning, student agency and global perspectives

Building staff capability through targeted professional learning and collaborative planning

Embedding global trends by researching and applying innovative practices in teaching and learning

Extending learning beyond the classroom by developing partnerships with external organisations

Supporting the IB MYP framework, enhancing interdisciplinary approaches and student engagement

This role reports to the Deputy Principal – Pedagogy, Learning Design and Innovation and forms part of the Learning POL Network, working closely with curriculum leaders and teaching staff to drive whole-school improvement in learning and teaching.

In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the position description, successful candidates will demonstrate their capability against the following criteria:

Experience with the IB Middle Years Program
A strong understanding of the MYP framework and its application within a school setting, including experience designing or delivering interdisciplinary units and supporting student agency and inquiry.

Strong collaboration and leadership skills
An ability to bring people together around a shared vision, work across teams and disciplines, and build strong relationships that enable innovation and change.

Strategic, innovative, and committed to inclusive practice
A future-focused mindset with a deep commitment to designing learning that is purposeful, relevant, and accessible to all students. You think creatively, act thoughtfully, and are guided by the values of equity and inclusion.

Passionate about building capacity across teams and designing learning that meets the needs of all learners
A strong track record of mentoring and developing others, with a belief in the power of collaborative professional learning to improve practice and outcomes for students.

Applicants must hold VIT registration and be accredited to teach in a Catholic school (or be working towards this accreditation).
