We're currently seeking a detail-oriented and driven Procurement Officer to join a respected local government authority. In this dynamic role, you'll help ensure the council secures goods and services efficiently, cost-effectively, and in full compliance with legislative requirements. You'll also play a key role in managing supplier relationships and supporting contract performance across a diverse range of services.

Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Sourcing: Secure goods and services using value-for-money strategies and ethical practices
- Contract Management: Administer contracts from negotiation through compliance and close-out
- Supplier Relationships: Develop strong supplier partnerships to ensure timely and quality service delivery
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure all purchasing activity meets council policies and legislative frameworks
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare procurement reports, highlight cost savings, and track contract performance
- Staff Support & Training: Guide internal teams on procurement procedures and policy best practices
- Record Keeping: Maintain thorough, audit-ready procurement and contract documentation
Profile
Skills and Experience:
- Solid understanding of procurement and tendering processes
- Experience in contract management and supplier negotiation
- Knowledge of public sector procurement policies and compliance
- Strong communication, time management and analytic skills
- Proficient in procurement software and finance systems
- Formal qualifications in procurement, business, or finance (desirable but no essential)
- Experience in local government is essential
