Candidate Care – Merit Pool Management & On-Boarding
The Candidate Care Team supports management and business areas to ensure a positive onboarding experience for new starters to ASD. The Candidate Care team manages onboarding of new staff, internal promotions, merit pools, internal Expression of Interest (EOI) processes, and staff relocations.
This is a fast-paced team, which handles large volumes of candidates and needs to manage internal and external expectations while also meeting key targets. We are looking for individuals who are able to work under pressure and can prioritise tasks whilst still ensuring a positive experience for candidates. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are needed, in particular with:
- internal business areas, to understand the job requirements of vacant positions so these can be filled with suitable candidates, and
- incoming candidates to ensure they are supported throughout all elements of the onboarding experience.
Recruitment
The Recruitment and Attraction team is responsible for the attraction and selection of suitable candidates for employment with ASD, including Entry Level Program recruitment. It is a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, and we seek to continuously improve and innovate.
Stakeholder engagement, customer service, and strong communication skills are an essential part of this role as you will be a contact point for various stakeholders and required to communicate deadlines, issues, and timeframes to both internal and external teams. This role requires the ability to prioritise and triage competing priorities, report on activities and be accountable for your own work.
Previous experience with applicant tracking systems such as eRecruit is highly desirable.
Workplace Relations
As member of the Workplace Relations you will be involved with coordinating, updating and providing advice about ASD terms and conditions as set out in the Employment Determination, HR policies and guidance materials. The team is also responsible for the management of staff consultative committees, HR delegations, secondments, workplace grievances, Individual Determinations, Out-postings and pay related matters.
HR Case Management
The HR Case Management team provides advice and guidance on all areas of personnel case management including probation, performance management, medical case management, conduct and change management, as well as providing general advice and assistance on HR related matters. The Senior Leadership Group are one of the key stakeholders for this team and the team partners with them to provide strategic people advice and support the provision of people services.
A role in this team will require individuals to support daily case management activities and contribute to the implementation of related HR projects, while maintaining the upmost levels of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
Proactive communication is essential to this role, as is the ability to coordinate day-to-day case management initiatives to drive optimum and sustained outcomes. The team operates in a fast-paced operational environment and the ability to meet tight deadlines while managing competing priorities is crucial to this role, as are effective stakeholder engagement stills and problem solving abilities.
Entry Level Programs Development
The Entry Level Programs Development team are responsible for developing emerging talent through Work Experience, Graduate, Cadet, and Apprenticeship programs. The team has a number of positions they are seeking to fill across their programs. The successful applicants will have an eye for detail and enjoy working collaboratively in a fast paced, changing environment.
A role in this team will involve supporting program participants, assisting with the delivery of learning and development, planning and co-ordinating key events, and processing of documentation and forms. Stakeholder engagement is a huge part of the role and includes interaction with prospective ASD employees, current participants, and Home Teams.
Learning and Development
As a Learning and Development Officer your role will include liaising with stakeholders to identify the training needs of our workforce, and to support a range of training and development initiatives that enhance workforce capability. This could include using e-learning software to design bespoke packages, reviewing and designing content in ASD’s learning management system and identifying and improving business processes related to training.
You will develop and maintain relationships with external training providers, and administer bespoke training. You will also be required to identify and improve business processes related to training. Your strong learning design skills, including needs analysis will come in handy when designing for engaging learning, developing impactful e-learning courses and using a variety of tools as part of this role.
Additionally, this role provides an opportunity to develop your L&D coordination and training administration skills, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to ensure ASD training initiatives are delivered effectively and efficiently. You will be responsible for collaborating with stakeholders, coordination of learning programs and evaluation of training activities, as well as researching, developing and maintaining relationships with external training providers.

Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will differ dependent on the stream you are applying for, but we are looking for candidates with demonstrated interest in and/or experience within HR, including skills such as:
ASD 4:
- Understanding of the different HR streams and the responsibilities in the respective streams including (but not limited to) HR case management, recruitment, onboarding and merit pool management, workplace relations, learning and development and / OR workforce reporting.
- The ability to exemplify the ASD Values with the proven ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and integrity including the ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of people, including at an internal and external senior executive level.
- The proven ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and integrity including the ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Demonstrable attention to detail, with the ability to take responsibility for own actions and accurate completion of work.

ASD 5:
- Demonstrable skills in managing responsibilities in the respective HR stream including (but not limited to) HR case management, recruitment, onboarding and merit pool management, workplace relations, learning and development and / OR workforce reporting.
- Experience contributing to the implementation of strategic HR initiatives and projects.
- The ability to exemplify the ASD Values with the proven ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and integrity including the ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of people.
- Demonstrable attention to detail, with the ability to take responsibility for own actions and accurate completion of work.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and triage effectively while still ensuring key targets are met both individually and as part of a team.
