  • Step into a high-impact advisory role where your expert valuation insights will directly influence major government property decisions and shape outcomes at a state level.
  • Permanent full-time role available with a flexible/hybrid working model
  • Location negotiable across NSW with main offices in Newcastle, Parramatta, Coffs Harbour, Queanbeyan, Wollongong, Orange and Bathurst
  • TRP from $225k to $249k including superannuation, commensurate with experience

Value NSW (VNSW) is a delivery focused organisation dedicated to providing excellence in economic, property and valuation services and advice to Government and the Valuer General. We are currently seeking an experienced valuation professional to join our leadership team as the Special Advisor, Valuations.

As the Special Advisor, Valuations, you’ll bring high-level valuation expertise to guide complex property matters that impact the state's strategic decisions. You’ll work closely with government stakeholders, applying technical knowledge to shape sensitive, highly complex or high value evidence-based valuations - in time sensitive, and often constrained, environments.

What makes this role challenging is the need to navigate the grey and find the outcome that isn’t always immediately clear. You’ll need to provide trusted guidance, manage risk, and influence outcomes across the organisation in a fast-paced environment where precision and sound judgement are everything.

What makes this role a once in lifetime valuation opportunity is you’ll get exposure to the most complex, most sensitive and at times high quantum valuation problems. One day you might be valuing a standard residential property, the next you’ll be providing a valuation that could be well into the billions.

About You
You will have a deep expertise in valuation - particularly in high-profile or complex property matters - will be key to shaping confident, defensible valuations that support major government decisions. You bring a strong understanding of statutory and regulatory frameworks, and your analytical mindset means you’re comfortable interpreting legal and financial implications in sensitive contexts and delivering as a team or at times, on your own.

You’ll be seen as a trusted valuer - someone who communicates clearly, navigates stakeholder interests with care, and balances technical precision with real-world judgement. Your ability to think strategically, write persuasively, and operate with integrity will make you the go-to person on valuation matters that matter most.

If you’re a valuation geek, loves the grey and thrives in the most complex valuation scenarios - this is the role you’ve been waiting for in the State’s largest valuation employer.
