We are looking for smart, motivated finance professionals to help us tackle the challenge of ensuring North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) continues to provide excellent health care to our community in a climate of rapidly escalating demand amidst cost constraints.

This vacancy is for multiple Permanent and Fixed Term appointments, from Full-Time (76 hrs per fortnight / 1.0FTE) to Part-Time (minimum 38 hours per fortnight / 0.5FTE). Fixed Term appointments include the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

There are currently the following vacancies:

  • 1.0 FTE for a permanent contract in our Financial Services team
  • 2.0 FTE for permanent contracts in our Business Partnering team
  • 1.0 FTE for a 12-month fixed-term contract in our Business Partnering team.

It is anticipated that further vacancies in Business Partnering, Financial Services, and Strategy & Performance will arise in the near future. This recruitment process will be used to appoint into vacancies as they arise.

What is our Finance & Business Officer role?

NMHS is a $3.0 billion dollar organisation with a diverse workforce of almost 15,000 people. NMHS delivers health services from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Osborne Park Hospital, King Edward Memorial Hospital, Graylands Hospital and Joondalup Health Campus, and also provides over 30 statewide services across Western Australia. The work you do in the Finance team contributes to improving the care of patients at these hospitals and services.

In the NMHS Finance team you will have a sense of purpose and community. You will be joining a Finance team of more than 120 people that performs a wide range of functions including financial accounting and statutory reporting; revenue and accounts receivable; business partnering; budgeting and management accounting; performance monitoring and developing financial strategy.

The Finance & Business Officer is a senior team member within one of the 3 streams below, generally responsible for a portfolio of finance, accounting and business performance management tasks, and providing a source of subject matter expertise to Management and junior colleagues:

  • Business Partnering team engages closely with our business areas, both clinical and non-clinical, as trusted advisors with financial expertise to facilitate the delivery of excellent health care, supporting options development and decision making on operational issues and projects.
  • Financial Services team manages the core accounting, revenue and reporting functions to ensure the financial position is accurately reported to public and statutory stakeholders, and that NMHS is accurately paid for privately delivered services.
  • Strategy and Performance team leads engagement with our key funders and external partners to lead annual government budgetary cycles and develops strategic financial advice to the Executive, identifying key issues, risks and mitigation strategies and driving continuous improvement in finance systems to support contemporary reporting.

Eligibility to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
