Finance & Accounts Officer

We are seeking a part time experienced finance officer for the ongoing management of the organisation's financials. As a non-profit / profit for purpose organisation, we require sound and competent financial management and transparency.
Candidates with previous experience in the disability and/or aged care sector are highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of key finance and accounting functions supporting operational financial governance, while overseeing the financial transactions of the company, ensuring the efficient use of company resources, and compliance with regulatory bodies.
You will undertake a range of finance, accounts and administration functions while ensuring data integrity to proactively mitigate organisational and operational risk, promoting best practice across the organisation, and supporting effective and efficient accounting and administration processes.
Key tasks include but are not limited to:
oversee and monitor/assist with the day-to-day financial operations such as payroll, claiming and funding body payments, invoicing and other financial transactions, providing coverage in times of leave,
monitoring financial transactions, performance, and compliance,
preparing financial reporting and compliance requirements inc. ATO/BAS/FBT, NDIS, Aged Care reports/acquittals,
the preparation of annual budgets, projections and forecasting, financial planning and sustainability,
overseeing budget allocation for business operations,
preparing accounting, statistical and financial reports (general performance, and P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow etc), and preforming associated financial analysis
preparing financial data and supporting in Auditor’s reviews,
completing daily, weekly, fortnightly and end of month adjustments, journals, general ledgers, trial balances, asset registers, depreciation schedules, and other ad hoc financial statements / reports as required to support accrual accounting processes,
complete reconciliation of all bank accounts monthly/as required
ensure accounting system version updates are maintained to enable accurate manual and computerised bookkeeping systems to keep, maintain and balance financial records.
actively support and lead continuous improvement projects,
reviewing/updating/implementing financial policies, procedures and controls to mitigate financial risk.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess;
Relevant qualification in Finance/Accounting/Economics with extensive demonstrated financial administration competency/related discipline. Highly desirable - CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA
Extensive experience and competency with accounting/bookkeeping procedures in a community-based NFP organisation,
Accounting system/software knowledge of MYOB, Reckon - highly desirable
Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft suite products - Excel, spreadsheets, Word etc
Diligence, attention to detail, and exceptional numerical accuracy,
Excellent ability to problem solve, manage time and meet tight deadlines while working with minimal supervision,
Excellent ability to lead and support people with a strong, positive and respectful values-based leadership approach,
Excellent communication (written, verbal & listening) and interpersonal skills,
Empathetic and contemporary attitude to working alongside diverse people in a small team environment, as well as dealing with the sensitivities of clients,
Demonstrated ability, understanding and application of Workplace Health and Safety practices, Continual improvement of a quality health and safety culture.
