One of the Sunshine states largest local councils is on the lookout for a candidate to help drive waste diversion, project delivery, and environmental sustainability across the Sunshine Coast. In this varied role, you’ll contribute to the planning and delivery of waste projects, manage contractors, and support improvements at our landfill, transfer stations and recycling facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage waste facility projects, contracts, and programs
• Supervise Council officers and contractors at waste and resource recovery sites
• Undertake technical investigations to improve site operations and performance
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and safety policies
• Provide informed advice to stakeholders and support community waste programs
• Keep accurate records, prepare reports, and monitor project and budget performance
• Identify opportunities for waste diversion and recycling innovation
• Promote responsible waste behaviors through engagement with the public, schools, and businesses

Successful Candidate
You’ll bring strong technical know-how, a practical mindset, and a genuine interest in sustainability. You're comfortable working on-site or behind the scenes, and enjoy collaborating with others to find effective solutions.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Solid experience in waste management, resource recovery or infrastructure projects
• Good understanding of contract management, risk, and environmental compliance
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills
• A current “C” class driver’s licence
• Availability to work weekends and public holidays as required

Bonus qualifications include:

• Certificate IV in Project Management
• Construction White Card (General Safety Induction – QLD)
