About the Role
Are you passionate about sustainability and making a real impact in your community? Our Local Government Client is seeking a proactive and experienced Waste Management Project Officer to join their dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you’ll contribute to the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of waste management facilities and projects, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the planning, implementation, and reporting of waste management projects and contracts.

Maintain accurate project plans, records, and performance reports.

Conduct technical investigations and recommend improvements to practices and procedures.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and industry best practice.

Provide expert advice to stakeholders and staff on waste management matters.

Supervise and train Waste Facility Officers and contractors across multiple sites.

Identify and implement waste diversion and resource recovery initiatives.

Engage with the community, schools, and businesses to promote waste minimisation programs.

Champion health and safety standards across all operations.

About You

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Strong background in contract management, risk, and financial administration.

Demonstrated experience in waste diversion, recovery, and disposal management.

Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and policy.

Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting skills.

Current “C” class driver’s licence.

Willingness to work weekends and public holidays as rostered.

Desirable

Certificate IV in Project Management.

General Safety Induction (Construction Industry QLD).
