Up to 50 Hours per fortnight

Project duration is approximately five (5) months

Salary range $37.35 - $43.08 (hourly rate)

About Graham House Community Centre

Graham House is a Community Centre providing a range of services for the South Burnett community. The South Burnett is a rural region 200-300 kms north-west of Brisbane. Our main building is in Murgon, one of the small towns in the region.

About the Project

Graham House has secured a grant to conduct a project aimed at increasing food security for the Murgon, Cherbourg and surrounding communities.

This project has two goals. The first is to establish an outlet for the South Burnett Pantry in Murgon. Secondly, we have been funded to conduct a “Spice It Up” program. This will involve creating a herb and spice starter kit with a recipe guide to assist customers to make tasty, nutritious meals with basic ingredients.

Our Community Project Officer will work with the Pantry and Graham House management teams to formulate an operational manual.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Plan, implement and evaluate this project;

• Meeting with Pantry management and staff to produce a written and visual outline of operational processes;

• Work with the Pantry manager to set up a suitable venue in Murgon from which to operate a branch of the SB Pantry;

• Applying for appropriate small grants to fund the equipment needed to set up the Murgon site;

• Provide relevant information to management and the funding body through regular reports.

To be considered for this position you must have:

Relevant skills and experience in project management, including planning, execution, problem-solving and evaluation;

Certificate, diploma, or higher, level qualifications in community services or related field is desirable;

Understanding of community development principles and practices;

Demonstrated skill in communicating and negotiating effectively with managers, staff members, peers, and community members;

Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;

High level written and verbal communication skills including writing reports and participating in planning and evaluation discussions;

Excellent time management and problem-solving skills;

Demonstrated computer and associated software skills;

C Class drivers licence;

A motor vehicle that you can use for work purposes. Your vehicle will need to be roadworthy and comprehensively insured. Some travel will be involved in this project.
