ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, you will be committed to providing an outstanding child-centred, family focused, and therapeutic service to women, children, young people who reside at a Women’s Refuge which provides short term crisis accommodation predominantly for Aboriginal women and their children escaping family and domestic violence.
Wungening’s Refuge delivers supported accommodation based on a case management approach within a holistic service model. Your values will align with those of Wungening and you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated track record working with Aboriginal children, families and communities.
As a strong and effective leader you will organise and monitor all Refuge programs to ensure they support successful outcomes that are responsive to individual client needs. You will oversee your team’s contribution to the quality of program outcomes, quality of data management and efficiency with reporting. You will also monitor the 24/7 Roster and the day-to-day systems and operations of the service to ensure delivery of a safe and culturally appropriate Refuge service.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
A qualification in Developmental Psychology or related field.
Significant (2 years or more) and demonstrated experience working with children, young people and families who have been impacted by trauma and the demonstrated ability to provide a child centred, family focused therapeutic response, utilising appropriate therapeutic approaches and interventions.
Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills and an ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Experience working with diverse groups and communities; knowledge of, and skills to work within, diverse Aboriginal cultures, protocols and terms of reference.
Ability to work some flexible hours to meet business demands.
Understanding of family and domestic violence, homelessness and alcohol and other drug issues and skills to provide intervention and crisis management for women and children affected by these issues
Demonstrated skills and experience working with children and/or families in crisis.
First Aid Certificate; or willingness to complete the training
Demonstrable commitment to empowering and respecting children and young people.
Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team in providing a safe environment for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.

WA Drivers Licence
WA Working with Children Card
National Police Clearance (dated within the last 3 months)
Department of Communities Clearance (we'll help successful candidates to apply)
