The Role
Southern Ports is recruiting a Cyber Security Lead to join their team. Reporting to the Technology Manager, The Cyber Security Lead oversees the design, implementation, and management of cybersecurity measures to protect against threats and ensure the integrity of our systems. This role aligns cybersecurity initiatives with organisational objectives, spearheading continuous improvement efforts to drive operational efficiency and assurance of security controls. Key responsibilities include leading the cybersecurity team, managing incident response, conducting risk assessments, deploying cybersecurity technologies, and fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness.

The Expertise
In depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g NIST, ISO 27001)
Degree qualified in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a relevant field or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity management
Relevant cybersecurity certifications e,g, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

Have a current Australian driver’s license
Be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card
Pass a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing
Provide a National Police Certificate that is within a 6-month period.

About Southern Ports Authority
The Southern Ports Authority was established on the 1st of October 2014 following the merger of the Albany Port Authority, Bunbury Port Authority, and Esperance Port Authority.
The legislation enabling the merger of the ports, The Ports Legislation Amendment Act 2014, was given Royal Assent on 20 May 2014.
The merger of the previous three port authorities was initiated by a comprehensive review of Western Australia’s ports commissioned in 2010. The scope of the review was to look at all matters concerning port operations, port governance and port performance to ensure that Western Australia’s ports could continue to respond to the demands of the State’s rapidly growing economy.
