As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of outcomes on complex legal issues in a competent, effective and commercially focussed manner that ensures compliance with legal, regulatory and governance frameworks.
In this role you will provide legal support to support UnitingCare’s strategic commercial business targets and customer centric solutions by collaborating with key stakeholders through the provision of commercially focussed legal advice, and effective negotiation and management.

Your part in our UnitingCare team:
Manage legal matters to ensure legal advice is obtained in an effective manner, and manage dispute resolution processes, including liaising with external counsel where appropriate.
Supervise and guide Legal Counsel, Graduate Legal Counsel, Legal Operations Coordinator, secondees and other consultants, as applicable to ensure team performance and the minimisation of business risk by giving professional guidance.
Anticipate legal and compliance issues and risks and identify solutions to eliminate or mitigate the risks by anticipation of issues and consult on strategies to mitigate risks and incident management.
Prepare reports on legal matters for the organisation for executive management meetings as requested and support board and executive governance activities, including preparation of board materials and resolutions.
Drive innovative solutions and processes to enhance the Legal team's efficiency, strategic initiatives, team development, and stakeholder engagement.
What makes a difference for us?
Bachelor of Laws and admitted to practice as a solicitor in the Queensland and Commonwealth jurisdictions, with a minimum of ten years’ post admission experience, or competency equivalent to that level of experience.
Previous in-house legal experience will be highly regarded, particularly with experience in Corporate and Commercial Law.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to think strategically and to take into consideration multiple factors that may impact a large, complex organisation.
