About the Role

Responsible for providing support to students and staff in their use of Library spaces and facilities, connecting with and using quality information resources across all the Library's collections, the position requires you to assist students in their use of the University's Learning Management System, assist with various general enquiries and using your judgement on when to refer enquiries to more specialist services. The Library Officer (Patron Engagement) is also expected to adeptly handle multiple online systems (and print books) as required.

You will be required to work across any of the University's Adelaide campuses as and when required.

The position is therefore only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. The successful candidate will be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

About You
You are a warm, approachable individual with excellent interpersonal skills, and are confident in interpreting and advising students and staff regarding access to information resources across all the Library's collections. As first point of call, you take a collaborative approach to working with colleagues to reduce barriers to accessing information resources, library services and spaces, and will contribute toward creating engaging and informative content for the Library's social media outlets.

Your previous experience working with online systems will allow you to easily document student enquiries about the Learning Management System and associated applications in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software in order to refer more complex enquiries to specialist teams for resolution.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Demonstrated experience in frontline customer service where patience and resilience are key attributes.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy and social media skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and proactively within own team and with other teams, i.e. considers activities, decisions and outcome from the perspective of working with others.
  • Demonstrated effective to well-developed written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.

If you feel you don't have all of the experience we are asking for, but that your skills are transferrable, we'd still love to hear from you.
