About the Role
The Indigenous Employment Lead will play a key role in leading and implementing the University's Indigenous Workforce Strategy. In coordinating targeted employment initiatives to support the employee lifecycle of our Indigenous staff members, the Indigenous Employment Lead will ultimately support the recruitment, development and retention of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff.
This role will operate with a high level of autonomy, and will require strong cultural leadership, a deep connection to community and an exceptional ability to build respectful relationships with Indigenous communities as well as key internal and external stakeholders.
The role will establish a strong partnership with Yungkurrinthi, Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement, and in-particular the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) on strategic workforce priorities and initiatives.

About You
In addition to strong leadership skills and exceptional relationship-building abilities, the successful candidate must demonstrate the following key position capabilities, among others:
- Progress towards postgraduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline and extensive relevant experience in equity, diversity, and inclusion, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
- Proven experience working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, with a broad understanding of cultural protocols and community engagement.
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, social justice, and reconciliation, with the ability to embed these principles into workforce development strategies and organisational culture.
- Broad knowledge of state and commonwealth legislation relevant to Indigenous employment, and a sound understanding of the higher education sector and its employment frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering effective marketing campaigns and employment programs aimed at recruiting, retaining, and supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff.
- Demonstrated strong project management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic and complex environment.
- A strong customer service ethos and commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery and program outcomes.
