About the Position
Hub Library, at Aberfoyle Park, is part of the City of Onkaparinga library network and is recognised for its family friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Our team of professional library staff work hard to ensure every customer receives a positive experience and is encouraged to utilise our library as a place to learn, enjoy, feel safe and connect with the community. The Hub Library is a joint use facility with Aberfoyle Park High School.
Reporting to the Team Leader Collection Management and Library Services, the successful candidate will take on a pivotal leadership role and have an opportunity to:
- lead and manage a dedicated team of staff and volunteers at the Hub Library.
- collaborate closely with the Aberfoyle Park High School staff to deliver services aligned with the joint-use agreement.
- lead the marketing and promotion of Onkaparinga Libraries
- implement the Libraries Strategic Plan and organisational strategic priorities.
- manage the Hub Library facility to meet the priorities of the City of Onkaparinga and Aberfoyle Park High School.
About You
As an experienced people leader, you will have a strong customer focus, demonstrating the ability to have a caring and sensitive approach to customer needs. You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) which will support you in delivering quality library services for our community.
Ideally you will possess:
- Interpersonal skills which are inclusive and encourage the development, cooperation and support of others and which emphasise and encourage a professional service delivery focus.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team
- Ability to support, guide and skill staff and volunteers to deliver efficient and ethical work practices.
- Knowledge and experience in the principles and practices of libraries with particular emphasis on technology and customer service issues in large, complex multi branch libraries.
- Demonstrated understanding of promotions and marketing principles in relation to library services.
- Experience in the delivery of library services in a public library or school environment.
Key Selection Criteria
- Proven experience in a customer centric leadership role.
- Knowledge of the key principles and practices of joint use libraries for school and community use.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience in managing and delivering impactful projects.
