About the role
We are looking for a Logistics Manager who will be responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and execution of GFC’s Northern Region logistics operations, including lobster receival, live transport, and bait distribution. The Logistics Manager ensures that product movements from vessels, landing sites, and depots to processing facilities and distribution centres are safe, timely, efficient, and aligned with operational and member service expectations. This role provides leadership to logistics staff, oversees scheduling and fleet utilisation, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and transport standards.
Duties Include:
Coordinate the receival, weighing, and dispatch of live lobster from vessels and depots to processing and distribution facilities.
Plan and oversee daily logistics schedules and vehicle movements across Kalbarri, Port Gregory, Horrocks, Dongara and Geraldton.
Ensure lobster handling and transport processes maintain product quality and meet regulatory and internal standards.
Lead the logistics workforce, including recruitment, rostering, supervision, and performance management.
Maintain clear and responsive communication with fishers and depot teams to ensure seamless coordination.
Ensure timely delivery of bait and general supplies to fishers, depots, and landing sites
Monitor and report on logistics performance, including delivery times, fleet utilisation, and product integrity.
Collaborate with internal departments to support operational planning and align logistics capacity with production and sales needs.
Champion and uphold GFC’s Safety and Quality standards across all logistics operations.
Maintain accurate records of all transport movements, lobster receivals, and equipment usage.
Support compliance with WHS legislation, fatigue management, and GFC’s operational procedures.
Provide timely and professional responses to logistics-related incidents, issues, and member feedback.
Foster a team culture of respect, safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
What we are looking for in candidates
To ensure success in this role, you should have the following skills:
Strong planning and organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in stakeholder-facing roles.
Understanding of WHS responsibilities and transport compliance requirements.
Proven ability to lead teams and deliver results in dynamic operational environments.
Competent in Microsoft Office and digital scheduling or logistics systems.
Calm, professional approach to decision-making and conflict resolution.
Commitment to GFC values: Safety, Quality, Productivity, Respect, and Continuous Improvement.
Minimum 3 years' experience in logistics, operations, or transport scheduling (Essential).
Experience leading teams and managing rosters in high-tempo operational environments (Essential).
Experience in seafood, primary production, or live product handling (Desirable).
Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Operations, or related field (Desirable).
Frontline Leadership or Team Supervision training (Essential).
