About the Role
Reporting to: (Operations Manager or CEO and Director)
You will play a key role in supporting the full employee lifecycle, while ensuring compliance with relevant workplace laws, NDIS requirements, and organisational policies. You will also contribute to quality management systems (QMS) and be a key support in ensuring Phoenix remains compliant, ethical, and people-focused.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes
Prepare and maintain employment contracts and HR documentation
Coordinate staff orientation, induction, and offboarding processes
Support employee relations, performance reviews, and grievance procedures
Provide balanced and confidential HR advice to managers and staff
Maintain HR and compliance records, training registers, and policies
Support and manage internal audits, compliance checks, and QMS activities
Monitor expiry of staff checks, clearances, and required certifications
Contribute to HR projects and strategic initiatives
Ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation and NDIS Practice Standards
Promote and uphold diversity, equity, inclusion, and child safety in all areas of work
About You
You are an organised and proactive HR professional who understands the importance of compliance and values-based practice in the disability and youth sectors. You have a genuine interest in building a safe, ethical, and supportive workplace culture.
Skills and Experience
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a generalist or advisory HR role
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A problem-solver with initiative
Strong knowledge of HR best practices and compliance frameworks
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and provide balanced HR advice
Experience working under the SCHADS Award and/or in community services (desirable)
Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards, WHS, EEO, and child safety principles
Experience or understanding of compliance and quality frameworks (e.g., QMS)
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficient with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field
AND/OR
Extensive experience in a generalist HR/compliance role
Essential Requirements
A valid Australian Driver's Licence
Working with Children Check (for paid employment)
National Criminal History Check (clear)
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Evidence of your right to work in Australia
