Procurement and Contracts Manager opportunity
- Approx. $70-$75 per hour plus Super depending on experience
- Assignment duration is up to approximately 3 months. Immediate Start

About the role
Government agency requires an experienced Procurement and Contracts Manager to join them on short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 3 months based in Melbourne CBD. As the Procurement and Contracts Manager, you will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to establish and manage strategic, complex and high-risk business critical contracts and spend for goods and services, to drive down the total cost of ownership in accordance with the objectives of the agency’s business plan.
Key duties
Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement appropriate procurement strategies and processes to deliver best value for money outcomes
- Identification of opportunities to provide reduction in total cost of ownership across the business by engaging in spend analysis, market investigation and various stakeholder management
- Research and assess current and future supply markets to assist in the creation of a Category Management Plan and strategy process
- Facilitate the planning and execution of activities to deliver arrangements that meet business objectives described within the sourcing planning document
- Execute and manage Request for Tenders, Quotations and Expression of Interest document as identified within the planning process
Key Selection Criteria
The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
- 7+ years sourcing and contracts management experience
- Sound knowledge in best strategic sourcing practices customer focused with excellent influencing and negotiating skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and implement complex sourcing and contracts management activities in compliance with Vic Government Procurement Guidelines
- Ability to undertake complex and medium to high-risk contract negotiations to achieve best outcomes
Qualifications
- Appropriate CIPSA certification for procurement or equivalent
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field i.e. Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Category Management

- The pay rate offered is inclusive of 25% casual loading.
- The anticipated hours per week are 38 (7.6 hours per day) for this contract.
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
