About the role
Government agency seeks an experienced Corporate Strategy and Planning Manager to join them on short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 4 months based in Melbourne CBD. As the Corporate Strategy and Planning Manager, you will lead the development of integrated planning frameworks, models and methodologies to ensure organisational outcomes are efficiently and effectively identified and delivered.
You will work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and key internal and external stakeholders in government, business, community and the emergency management sector to identify key issues and opportunities
Key duties
Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement a best practice strategic planning cycle to produce long-term strategy and support the Director in delivering supporting strategic plans
- Develop and manage an integrated business planning culture, incorporating appropriate support, challenge and analysis, with clearly defined accountability for the delivery of annual business plans and oversee processes to ensure consistency and alignment of directorate and departmental business planning
- Design, establish and oversee a process for managing the agency's portfolio of strategic initiatives that is consistent with best practice and its Project Management Framework, contemporary change management principles and the project planning
- Manage the design and production of accurate and high-quality consolidated strategy performance reporting and ensure the provision of reliable and meaningful information about the implementation of the agency's strategic and business plans
- Develop exceptional working relationships with the ELT and senior management by providing strategic and business planning advice and support
- Managing the agency’s contribution to sector planning and implementation processes by building strong engagement with relevant external stakeholders such as government departments and statutory authorities
Key Selection Criteria
The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
- Demonstrated capacity to function and interact strategically and to communicate with influence at executive level to gain acceptance of recommendations
- Demonstrated high level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills for a broad range of complex issues with a capacity lo drive change through the organisation
- Demonstrated experience in working as a facilitator and an internal/external consultant with proven ability to convene inter-agency groups, represent the organisation at senior forums, and develop reports, presentation packages, briefing notes and agendas for diverse audiences
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a discipline requiring analytical and strategic skills or equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification in a business-related discipline with a focus on research and analysis
- Project management, change management and consulting skills and/or relevant qualification

- The pay rate offered is inclusive of 25% casual loading.
- The anticipated hours per week are 38 (7.6 hours per day) for this contract.
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
