Harry West Flags has been proudly making flags in Australia for over 115 years, and demand for our craftsmanship is growing. We’re expanding our team and looking for a full-time Sewing Machinist to join our small, collaborative workshop in Milsons Point.

About the Role

You'll be trained to sew and assemble flags using our time-tested patterns and templates. At Harry West Flags, we don’t print our designs—we fully sew and appliqué them, maintaining a proud tradition of quality craftsmanship.

Working alongside skilled teammates, you’ll help produce custom-made flags, applying your experience and creativity to each piece.

What You’ll Do

Cut and sew fabric using patterns and templates

Operate industrial sewing machines

Collaborate with team members to create bespoke, high-quality sewn flags

Take on new challenges—no two flags are the same!

Maintain attention to detail and a strong sense of workmanship

What We’re Looking For

Experience with industrial or commercial sewing machines

Ability to follow patterns accurately and adapt to new sewing tasks

A team player who brings enthusiasm, initiative, and a good sense of humour

Backgrounds in tailoring, bridal, soft furnishings, costumes or similar are welcome

Experience in fabric cutting or pattern-making is highly desirable

Previous flagmaking experience is a bonus—not a requirement
