The Role
As the Structures Maintenance Engineer, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development, Assets and Maintenance Group.
You will provide ongoing engineering and management support to the Structures Maintenance teams.
Your primary objective will be to ensure the effective delivery of civil structures maintenance programs, adhering to V/Line's Project Governance and Management procedures. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of asset management strategies for civil structures, including lifecycle planning and risk assessment.

Key accountabilities include:
Providing technical leadership to Civil Maintenance Supervisors and field teams.
Supporting inspections and investigations, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
Coordinating works with internal teams and external stakeholders to minimise disruption.
Monitoring asset health, analyse data, and maintain accurate records.
Managing risk and safety, including incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Contributing to budgets, cost estimates, and contractor oversight.
Driving continuous improvement, including training and innovation in maintenance practices.
About You
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of structures within rail, transportation, or heavy civil infrastructure.
Strong understanding of structural design principles, Australian structural design standards and codes, and industry best practices
Understanding of construction materials such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Experience with inspection and assessment techniques for railway structures.
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
