About the role

As a Switchboard Design Engineer at VES Electrical Solutions', you will be responsible for designing and developing custom switchboards and control panels for a range of industrial and commercial clients. This full-time role is based in Somerville, Victoria, offering the opportunity to work on exciting and varied projects within the electrical engineering field.

What you'll be doing

Producing detailed design drawings and schematics for switchboards and control panels using CAD software

Selecting and specifying appropriate electrical components and equipment to meet project requirements

Coordinating with clients, stakeholders and the production team to ensure designs are delivered on time and to the required standards

Testing and commissioning completed switchboards and control panels to ensure they function as intended

Providing technical support and advice to clients throughout the design and implementation process

Continuously improving design processes and documentation to increase efficiency and quality

What we're looking for

A relevant degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline

Substantial experience (5+ years) in switchboard and control panel design, ideally within an electrical contracting or manufacturing environment

Proficient in the use of CAD software, such as AutoCAD, for the creation of detailed design drawings

Strong technical knowledge of electrical components, wiring, and control systems

Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve design challenges

Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients, project stakeholders and the production team

A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality and safety
