Senior Accountant

GEM Resourcing is recruiting for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant based in Perth. This is a long-term, ongoing opportunity to join a reputable accounting firm supporting clients across a wide range of industries. The role involves delivering high level tax and compliance services, providing strategic business advisory, and mentoring junior staff. You will play a key role in helping clients manage risk, meet statutory obligations, and achieve sustainable business growth.

About the Role:
This role plays a key part in supporting our clients growth by delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful advice, and helping them make better business decisions. You’ll be working as part of a collaborative and knowledgeable team, contributing to high-quality client service and professional development across the firm.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:

• Prepare client financial statements, tax returns, management reports and ad hoc tax advice, ensuring compliance with statutory and internal deadlines.
• Produce accurate and timely financial statements aligned with established schedules and accounting standards.
• Maintain strong time management and prioritisation skills to ensure a high level of client-charged work and recovery performance.
• Attend weekly work-in-progress meetings and provide updates on the status of jobs moving through query, review and finalisation stages.
• Communicate proactively with senior management regarding job progress and any client-related issues.
• Respond to client emails within one business day, providing clear and realistic timeframes for completion.
• Provide ad hoc client support and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Mentor junior staff by answering queries in a timely and supportive manner.
• Promote the consistent application of internal policies, procedures and professional standards.
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation, accounting regulations and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and professional development.

To be considered for these positions, you must be able to provide the following:

• Have at least 4 years’ experience as an accountant
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CA/CPA completed or in progress preferred)
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with Xero and MYOB
• Demonstrate strong analytical, time management, and communication skills
• Show excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Understand relevant tax laws and financial reporting standards
• Be confident building strong client and team relationships
• Must be based in Perth and have the right to work in Australia.
