The University of Queensland (UQ) is seeking a passionate and results-driven Sustainability Projects & Strategy Manager to lead the delivery of our Sustainability Strategy (2026-2029) and beyond. This pivotal role will see you work across all levels of the University to embed sustainability in our operations, culture, and community.
As the Sustainability Projects & Strategy Manager, you will guide strategic direction, engage stakeholders, manage key initiatives, and ensure our progress is effectively communicated both internally and externally.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the design and project management of UQ's refined Sustainability Strategy.
- Develop and maintain a robust monitoring and reporting framework to track progress.
- Produce annual sustainability reports and provide regular updates to the Sustainability Strategy Committee.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate sustainability throughout the University.
- Promote UQ's sustainability initiatives through strategic communications, events, and digital platforms.
- Support UQ's performance in global sustainability rankings and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Provide evidence-based analysis to support strategic decision-making and performance reporting.
About You
You will be a proactive, collaborative leader with a strong track record in strategy development and project delivery. Ideally, you will demonstrate:
- A relevant postgraduate qualification (or progress towards one) in business, sustainability, environmental science, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in strategic planning, project management, or sustainability implementation.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver high-impact outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent analytical, research, and reporting capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and a problem-solving mindset.
- A genuine passion for sustainable development and innovation.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
