The Role
Seeking an experienced Business Manager to focus on financial management, administration and compliance; and to contribute to program expansion.
Working under limited direction and with reasonable autonomy, you will be accountable to perform and achieve complex financial and commercial work within an integrated workforce.
As a member of a small team, you'll take on wide-ranging responsibilities including:
- Developing budgets and managing financial operations (procurement, contracting, invoicing and revenue).
- Supervising the administrative operations team (overseeing youth participation and customer service).
- Market research and analysis to inform commercial decisions (costing new program initiatives, modelling commercial fee structures).
- Contributing to business development (writing policies, procedures, decision briefs, board papers and business documents).
- Providing commercial and financial advice, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy.
- Administering special accounts and trust monies, including fundraising and compliance.
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including as Advisory Board secretariat.
- The Business Manager also participates in a paid out-of-hours duty roster when STS Young Endeavour is at sea.
Must hold or be able to obtain a NSW Working With Children Check within six months of commencement.

The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme (YEYS) is a Commonwealth program delivering world class development outcomes for young Australians aboard Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour.
Our small, collaborative team is comprised of experienced and passionate individuals responsible for program development, youth administration, marketing communication and partnerships, commercial operations and governance. A strong focus on program expansion provides an exciting opportunity to inform commercial decision making, drive service delivery and execute business improvement initiatives.
We work closely with Navy and Defence to deliver the Young Endeavour Program, support youth policy outcomes, develop partnerships and build awareness of Navy in the community - engaging with senior management, board members, community leaders and external stakeholders.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a good understanding of relevant legislative frameworks, policies and procedures, and the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge and provide expert advice across a range of business, financial and commercial activities.
You will have supervisory experience in a business operations or program delivery environment and be able to develop work plans, assign resources and manage performance, and to prioritise activity to meet deadlines and achieve organisational goals.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised, excellent attention to detail.
- Sound skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- High-level customer services skills, and experience using customer relationship management and record keeping systems.
